The term “stem cells“ was proposed by a histologist A. Maksimov in 1908.

Every stem cell has two main characteristics:

  • Potency, which means that it is capable of differentiating into various specific cell types.
  • Totipotent | Pluripotent | Multipotent | Unipotent
